Open Platform for Digital Cities

Task Description
The objective of the consortium is the creation of an Open Platform for Digital Cities which on one side will circulate to the market as an independent product, on the other side will constitute (after customisation) the basis for the creation of Digital Cities from Local Government, Municipalities and other local authorities in Greece and abroad.
The term Digital Community or Digital City (the terms: Digital Community, Digital City, Intelligent City, Smart Community, e-city are also used) refers to a connected community that combines broadband communications infrastructure; flexible, service-oriented computing infrastructure based on open industry standards; and innovative services to meet the needs of governments and their employees, citizens and businesses. The geographical dimension (width) of the digital communities vary, they can be extended from a building up to a city.
The term Digital Community or Digital City (the terms: Digital Community, Digital City, Intelligent City, Smart Community, e-city are also used) refers to a connected community that combines broadband communications infrastructure; flexible, service-oriented computing infrastructure based on open industry standards; and innovative services to meet the needs of governments and their employees, citizens and businesses.
The need for specialised services in the level of digital city will de covered by the development of the Open Platform for Digital Cities. It is a digital platform, which in its first version will be constituted by a kernel and five independent modules. This System will cover five basic components of city: Democracy, Governance, Business Operations, Information, and Tourist Promotion. Each of the above components will be supported by a different part/module of the digital platform:
1. Digital Democracy Module.
2. Digital Governance Module.
3. Digital Entrepreneurship Module.
4. Information Module.
5. Promotion and Culture Module.
