Task Description
The thematic priority of the proposed regional technology platform (RTP) is ‘Digital and Telecommunication Systems’ (DTS). The proposed RTP will contribute significantly to the improvement of citizen’s life quality and the competitiveness augmentation. Emerging telecommunication applications allow for the provision of value-added services with beneficial effects for enterprises. The landscape in telecommunication business is changing to such an extent that, for the first time, incumbent providers face a change in market shares. Internet services provided over several platforms, like PC, digital TV or mobile phone overwhelm the traditional telecommunication structures of last decades. The new developments open huge business, financial and social opportunities. The proposed RTP can play an important role in the advancement of new services over the MANs, which will change the current digital lag in the rest of the RCM. The new services will create new jobs at the level of service development, promotion, maintenance and support. It is evident that the RTP in the field of DTS will improve competitiveness, advance financial development and increase employment of specialized personnel within the RCM.
